North Korea urges South Korea to implement summit agreement

(VOVWORLD) -North Korea on Monday renewed its call to South Korea to implement an inter-Korean summit agreement made in 2000, saying it could improve their relations and lead to peace on the divided peninsula.

The joint declaration signed in June 2000 was intended to be the foundation of national reconciliation and unity and the starting point for resolving North-South differences.Implementing the joint declaration is the most promising way to mend North-South relations and achieve peace and prosperity, according to Pyongyang.
