North-central localities recover from floods
(VOVWORLD) -The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control says torrential rains and floods have left 13 people dead, 3 missing, and hundreds of houses damaged.
Local administrations in Son La, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An are working against time to overcome the consequence of floods and landslides. Highway sections in these provinces have been cleared. Working teams have been sent to affected areas to help locals stabilize their lives.
On Sunday night and early Monday, rainfalls were reported in Lai Chau, causing landslides along national highways and floods in urban areas. Efforts are underway to repair roads and drain off the water.
