Ocean Dialogue discusses international law, East Sea

(VOVWORLD) -80 Vietnamese and foreign experts discussed legal issues and ways to manage regional disputes related to the East Sea at the 3rd Ocean Dialogue co-hosted by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam (DAV), the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Embassy of Australia in Hanoi on Monday.

Guest speakers were Nguyen Hong Thao, Vice Chairman of the United Nations International Law Commission, Associate Professor, Doctor Herman J.Karft of Philippines University, and Doctor Yan Yan of China’s Center for South China Sea Studies.

Discussions centered around the rule of law, the legal status of entities, the PAC’s ruling in the Philippine case against China, cooperation for joint development, the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and how to promote common views on international law in the East Sea.
