Official reception held for Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong in Japan

(VOVworld) – Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hosted an official reception on Tuesday afternoon for Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong who arrived in Tokyo earlier in the day for his official visit to Japan.

Following the reception, Mr. Trong met with Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida. Mr. Trong reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policies of considering Japan one of its top important partners, calling on Mr. Kishida to continue to support measures to boost political trust, economic connectivity between the two countries, Vietnam’s sustainable development, as well as increase bilateral cooperation in international issues. Minister Kishida said Mr. Trong’s visit reflects importance of Vietnam’s bonds and attachment with Japan. He said Japan will increase cooperation with Vietnam for peace and stability in the East Sea, adding that Japan will continue providing Vietnam with ODA to upgrade Vietnam’s infrastructure. He also pledged his continued efforts to further boost the bilateral strategic partnership.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr. Trong was welcomed at Haneda international airport by leaders of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Quoc Cuong, the Vietnamese Embassy’s staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Japan.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong are scheduled to hold talks and witness the signing of several cooperation agreements between Vietnam and Japan.
