(VOVworld)- The Vietnamese Embassy in the Lao capital Vientiane held a ceremony on Friday to welcome Lunar New Year 2014. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung informed ceremony attendees of Vietnam’s achievements last year, highlighting trade turnover with Laos now exceeds US$1 billion. Both nations completed upgrading and reinforcing border demarcation. Ambassador Hung expressed his hope to step up cooperation in 2014.  The same day, the Vietnamese General Consulates in Hong Kong and Macau, China held meetings to celebrate Tet with overseas Vietnamese. General Consul Nguyen Thi Nha said she hoped overseas Vietnamese in Hong Kong and Macau would continue to unite and contribute more to the nation. In Singapore, about 600 Vietnamese people gathered for a Tet celebration held by the Vietnamese Embassy. A similar meeting was held in the Czech Republic.
