Mr. Nghi told reporters ahead of the Lunar New Year Festival that the community of 4.5 million Vietnamese expats continues to thrive and integrate into their host countries in politics, economics, culture, and society. The number of Overseas Vietnamese returning home for doing business is on the rise. By late last year, Overseas Vietnamese invested in 3,000 projects worth about 4 billion USD in 45 provinces and cities across Vietnam. Mr. Nghi said the Party, government and localities always pay due attention to the overseas Vietnamese community, evidenced by the implementation and fine-tuning of mechanisms, policies and laws on citizenship, visa exemption and land ownership to support Vietnamese expatriates to do business in their homeland.
