Son, who is also Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, expressed his gratitude during a week-long trip to Ottawa, Vancouver, and Toronto. He spoke with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Jean and a representative of the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration about bilateral ties and the lives of Vietnamese in Canada. Vietnam, as an active, reliable ASEAN member, is always willing to help Canada tighten links with the Southeast Asian region.

Overseas Vietnamese met with Son and were were briefed about Vietnam’s consistent policy of defending its territory and waters. Son praised their contributions to teaching and learning the Vietnamese language and promoting Vietnamese culture in Canada, which, Son said, should be given greater effort.
