Palestine pushes statehood bid to UN Security Council

(VOVworld) – Palestine will resubmit a resolution to the UN Security Council calling for an end to Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said at a meeting Sunday in Ramallah city that he had already discussed the issue with Arab allies, specifically Jordan. Palestine’s resolution demands an Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories by 2017.
