Party General Secretary Truong Chinh’s 110th birthday marked

(VOVworld) – A ceremony to mark Party General Secretary Truong Chinh’s 110th birthday was held in Nam Dinh province on Thursday. Attending the event were Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan and Politburo member and permanent member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat Dinh The Huynh.

Secretary of the Nam Dinh provincial Party Committee Doan Hong Phong delivered a speech highlighting the revolutionary career of the late Party leader, who is known as the Party General Secretary of Doi Moi (Renewal). Truong Chinh served as Party General Secretary three tenures and as a Politburo member for more than 20 years.
Mr. Phong said: “Truong Chinh laid the foundation for the national renewal. By changing the mindset on economics, he created a turning point in the Party’s ideology and creative application of Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam’s situation. The 6th National Party Congress has been called the Reform Congress, a landmark in Vietnam’s revolution. Achievements of the renewal in the past 30 years have affirmed the correctness of Party General Secretary Truong Chinh’s initiative.”  

The National Political Publishing House issued a book entitled “Party General Secretary Truong Chinh – an outstanding leader of the Party, a brilliant child of Nam Dinh province.

Truong Chinh, real name Dang Xuan Khu, was born in 1907 in Nam Dinh’s Xuan Truong District. He is known as an outstanding political theorist, journalist, cultural researcher and poet.
