He said after over 30 years of the renewal process, Vietnam has become a developing country with middle income, high economic growth, socio-political stability, strengthened defence and security, expanded foreign relations, and enhanced status in the world.

Mr. Trong said Vietnam has significantly improved its business and investment environment, adding: “As a developing country which has implemented industrialization and modernization, Vietnam treasures cooperation, assistance, experience, and resources from outside.”

“Vietnam also wants to attract foreign direct investment and official development assistance capital, hoping that foreign investors and businesses, including those from Indonesia, will come to do business with us. Vietnam is trying to remove inappropriate barriers, complete administrative reforms, and build a better legal environment and infrastructure for foreign companies,” said Mr. Trong.

He said Indonesia is now Vietnam’s fourth largest partner and the fifth biggest investor within ASEAN, stressing that Vietnam highly values Indonesian firms and believes in the prospects of investment cooperation between the 2 countries.

Earlier Party leader Trong received Budiarsa Sastrawinata, President of the Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association. He said he hopes the association will act as a link between the people, businesses, and localities of both nations.
