Party leader commemorates General Nguyen Chi Thanh

(VOVWORLD) - Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong offered incense in commemoration of the 50th death anniversary of General Nguyen Chi Thanh and viewed photos and documents on the General’s life and revolutionary career in his memorial house on Thursday.

General Thanh, whose real name was Nguyen Vinh, was born on January 1st, 1914 in Niem Pho village, Thua Thien Hue province.

General Thanh’s life and career are closely linked to the Vietnamese revolution and the growth of the Vietnamese Military Forces during the resistance war against the French colonialists and the beginning of the resistance war against the Americans.

His contributions were important to making the Vietnam People’s Army more powerful.

During a meeting with members of General Thanh’s family, Mr. Trong said he hopes the descendants will follow General Thanh in working hard to uphold the fine tradition of the family and contributing more to the nation, the people, and the army.
