(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has met with 150 outstanding intellectuals, artists and scientists. The party leader also extended his new year greetings to them at a ceremony on Sunday to mark the 84^th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and to celebrate Tet, the traditional lunar new year festival.

He praised their contributions to Vietnam’s achievements in 2013 and highlighted their responsibility in training talented young people. He said: “The Communist party of Vietnam considers science and technology, and education one of the top priority policies and culture as the spiritual foundation of society. The party considers knowledge the decisive factor in all guidelines and policies. The contributions of intellectuals and artists are of great importance.”

He also urged them to contribute to fighting subversive acts by hostile forces.
