Party leader meets Chinese Premier

(VOVworld) – Vietnam and China have agreed to increase the connectivity of their development strategies within the initiatives “two corridors, one belt” and “one belt, one road”.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang at the People’s Great Hall in Beijing on Friday. They also agreed to implement a memorandum of understanding on joint production projects between Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade and the China’s National Development and Reform Commission. Both sides said they would sign a master plan on building a border economic cooperative zone under the principle of equality, and win-win, and in accordance with each other’s laws. The two leaders agreed to promote the role of trade mechanisms, effectively implement the signed deals, and improve trade imbalance. Both sides reiterated their determination to boost business investment, ensure the progress of joint projects, resolve pending issues, and encourage localities to increase friendship exchanges. Vietnam and China also seek to boost their cooperation in agriculture, environment, science, technology, transports, tourism, health care, quarantine programs, aviations, and the management of the Mekong-Lancang River water source. They agreed to support increased connectivity within ASEAN, promote ASEAN’s central role in East Asia, and enhance cooperation between China and ASEAN for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
