(VOVworld) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has called on the Cat Hai district of Hai Phong city to fully utilize the opportunities for sustainable development. Trong was speaking at a working session with Cat Hai leaders on Wednesday as part of his tour of Hai Phong to inspect the implementation of resolutions of the 11th National Party Congress and its socio-economic tasks. The Party chief said Cat Hai has many favorable conditions for tourism, aquaculture and services:“Cat Hai district should make full use of your advantages and potential, as endowed by nature. The Party, State and city have invested money, and other resources, creating favorable conditions for local development. To seize these opportunities, it is necessary to map out a good plan. Cat Hai is also strong in tourism and the services. Production is doing quite well, there are some famous fish sauce trademarks. When the roads linking the port are open, services will flourish. The number of tourists will also increase”.

In the afternoon, Party leader Trong worked with the Hai Phong port company. He asked the company to focus on restructuring itself and on key investment. Trong said efforts should be made to build Hai Phong into an international gateway port. Later, the party leader visited and presented gifts to staff of Dinh Vu and Tan Cang ports.

Earlier, while visiting the Cat Ba borderguard station, Trong called on the station to work harder to defend Vietnam’s territorial integrity, safeguard its marine and island security, be on alert to any changing circumstances, contribute to flood prevention and control, and engage in search and rescue operations.
