He said the visit is particularly important because Mr. Trong is the first top-ranking foreign leader who China’s Party and State has received in 2017 and China is the first nation the top leader of Vietnam has visited this year.

This illustrates the great interest the two Parties and States have in promoting friendly relations. The visit also coincides with the 67th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration, the biggest annual holiday of both Vietnam and China.

Mr. Ling said that with so many uncertainties in the world and so many new challenges, the two Parties and States should work more closely with each other to increase connectivity and cooperation for mutual benefit and expand cultural exchanges, elevating their comprehensive strategic partnership.
