At the government’s monthly meeting on Monday, PM Phuc said Vietnam’s economy increased 7.46% in the third quarter, mainly in production, services, agriculture, processing industry, retail, and tourism. He said that the government aims to complete all 13 targets set for this year by the Party Central Committee and the National Assembly.

Mr. Phuc said the World Economic Forum has ranked Vietnam’s competitiveness 5 levels higher and the Nikkei Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI) rose to 53 points, the highest in ASEAN. Mr. Phuc asked ministries and agencies to boost the export growth rate to 20-21%, triple the previous plan. In the past 9 months, Vietnam’s macro economy continues to be stable with inflation of 3.79%.

“The growth rate has reached 6.41% in 9 months. We need to achieve a growth rate of 7.4-7.5% in the fourth quarter to achieve 6.7% by the end of the year. Relevant agencies and localities need to work out specific solutions to meet the target,” PM Phuc said.
