PM hosts investors interested in Bac Lieu power project
(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday hosted a reception in Hanoi for investors who are planning to invest a liquefied natural gas (LNG) power project in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu.

The project has a total investment of approximately 4 billion USD and a total capacity of 3,200 MW. If the investors get support and cooperation from the Vietnamese government, they expect to begin operation of the first turbine, with a capacity of 1,000 MW, within the next three years.
PM Phuc said the Mekong Delta holds great potential for gas-fueled power projects and many investors have expressed desire to build LNG plants in the region. Mr. Phuc said this is a big project so all stages must be conducted strictly in line with regulations, adding that the project must minimize its effects on the environment and generate electricity at a competitive price.
