Mr. Phuc called on the participants to share their expectations of the Vietnamese Government in creating a favorable business environment and to contribute ideas to help Vietnam make breakthroughs in the development of industry, agriculture, healthcare, education, planning, and investment.

Prime Minister Phuc said: “As you know, late 2017 the Thai Beverage (Thaibev) invested about 5 billion USD in the Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation (Sabeco). It was the biggest transaction in Asia. Thaibev representatives pledged to develop Sabeco into a major corporation, promote the Sabeco brand name to the world, and develop other kinds of beverages. Vietnam will promulgate measures to support your efforts.”

Global CEOs praised Vietnam’s economic growth prospects and the Vietnamese Government’s management, especially in improving Vietnam’s business and investment environment, and managing its macro-economy. They all committed to doing long-term business and expanding investment in Vietnam. Alex Dimitrief, President and CEO of the General Electric (GE) Company, said Vietnam is one of GE’s most successful stories and that the company has 2,000 employees in Vietnam.

“The timing of this forum couldn’t be more perfect because the GE is celebrating the 25th anniversary of operation in Vietnam. With the government reduction of limitation on foreign investment, Vietnam has become one of GE’s biggest success stories over the last 25 years. Our footprint in the country has become deep and wide. We help generate more than 30% of Vietnam’s power capacity with our equipment, our many key projects from thermo-power to hydro-power plants in the latest renewable energy projects in the country,” said Alex Dimitrief, President and CEO of the General Electric (GE) Company.

Prime Minister Phuc said Vietnam consistently stabilizes its macro-economy, will do the utmost to improve its business environment and competitiveness, and step up economic restructuring, equitization, and capital withdrawal from state corporations in accordance with open and transparent market principles. He said Vietnam is determined to develop a government of “discipline, integrity, action, creativity, and efficiency”, to increase Vietnam’s international integration, and strictly abide by its commitments to the WTO and FTAs.
