"One important aspect of the Vietnam-US relationship is resolving war aftermath. We have had success in finding individuals lost during the war and mitigating consequences of Orange Agent/Dioxin and unexploded ordnance. We have much more to do and I hope our governments and peoples will closely cooperate in this effort."

The meeting was attended by several US non-governmental organizations who are helping Southeast Asian countries resolve war aftermath. For the first time the US Congress earmarked 15 million USD of its defense budget for detoxifying Orange Agent at Vietnam’s Bien Hoa airport.
