In an address at the event, President Tran Dai Quang urged Hai Phong border guards to seize opportunities, overcome difficulties, and successfully fulfill their tasks during the new revolutionary period. He said:“Efforts should be made to promote heroic tradition, proactively grasp the situation, make precise predictions of developments related to the maritime border, advise the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to take appropriate measures and ensure readiness in all circumstances. The border guard force should work closely with the Marine Police, security forces and relevant agencies to firmly safeguard border and island sovereignty and ensure political security and social order.”

President Quang called on Hai Phong border guards to work with local authorities to combine an all-people’s national defence and security postures, while actively engaging in socio-economic and cultural activities. 

The President bestowed the Hero of the People’s Armed Forces title on Hai Phong border guards and on Lieut. Col Nguyen Huu Doai, former political officer of Trang Cat public security station, part of the Hai Phong city’s border guard force.
