President meets Lao, Cambodian, Republic of Korean leaders

(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang met the Party General Secretary cum President of Laos, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and President of the Republic of Korean, who are in Vietnam for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Da Nang city on Saturday.

Receiving Lao Party General Secretary cum President Bounnhang Vorachith, President Quang said Vietnam and Laos have worked closely bilaterally and multilaterally. The Lao leader presented 100,000 USD to support victims of typhoon Damrey in central Vietnam.

Meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hunsen, President Quang said Vietnam wants to strengthen friendship and cooperation with Cambodia for good neighborliness. Both leaders agreed to boost bilateral ties as 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cambodia.

At a meeting with the Republic of Korean President Moon Jae-in, President Quang said Vietnam and the Republic of Korea share strategic interests in maintaining peace and stability for development. He called on the Korean government to continue its non-refundable aid and ODA for Vietnam with preferential interest rates, help Vietnam’s law enforcement forces at sea and landmine clearance. President Quang reiterated Vietnam’s unwavering policy of denuclearizing the Korean peninsula and strictly implementing the UN Security Council’s resolutions on Pyongyang’s nuclear programs. He called on the Republic of Korea to support for viewpoints of Vietnam and ASEAN in maintaining peace, security, and stability, and settling dispute in the East Sea in line with international law.
