(VOVworld) – President Tran Dai Quang received the outgoing Australian ambassador to Vietnam Hugh Borrowman on Thursday. President Sang said Australia was one of Vietnam’s top trade and investment partners with two way trade increasing 10% every year to reach 5 billion USD in 2015. He praised the contributions of Australia’s businesses and investment projects to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, particularly in the areas of banking, oil and gas, construction, light industries, processing, and services. He said he hoped Australia would make it easier for the importation of Vietnamese seafood and farm produce. President Quang called for continued coordination at regional and global forums such as the East Asia Summit, APEC, and the UN. He added that the Vietnamese government encourages Vietnamese Australians to integrate into Australian society, abide by Australian laws, and preserve their national cultural identity, contributing to the two countries’ friendship.
