(VOVworld) - President Tran Dai Quang has emphasized science and technology as twin momentums for national development. Mr. Quang speaking at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology on Wednesday.

He urged the academy to reform its management and develop its scientific research and technology to meet the needs of industrialization, modernization and international integration: “Efforts should be made to reform science and technology management, organization and activities to encourage scientists’ contributions. Scientific research and technological application should serve socio-economic development. It’s important to build criterias for evaluating programs and projects. For fundamental research, attention should be paid to international cooperation so that our scientific and technological products will catch up with regional and global standards”.

Also on Wednesday, President Tran Dai Quang visited the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences. He said: “In addition to studying the Vietnamese culture, people and country, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences should continue to reform its thinking and improve its theoretical system of socialism and the path to socialism. These efforts are aimed at developing Vietnam into a country with rich people and strong, democratic and civilized society during national industrialization, modernization and globalization. The academy should provide scientific and theoretical foundations for the Party and the government to map out guidelines and policy for national development”.

 After that, President Tran Dai Quang called at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.
