Addressing Tuesday’s press conference, Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh said the visit by President Quang later this week is the first trip to India by a President of Vietnam in seven years, since a visit by President Truong Tan Sang in 2011.

Mr. Thanh said this visit will be important because it aims to affirm Vietnam’s consistent policy of enhancing its traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with India. It is intended to expand bilateral cooperation in all areas, from politics, diplomacy, and defence to the economy, investment, tourism, culture, and education, to make the comprehensive strategic partnership more substantive.
