President: Vietnam considers Belarus a priority partner in Eurasian Economic Area

(VOVWORLD) - President Tran Dai Quang and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko co-chaired a Vietnam-Belarus economic workshop on Tuesday in Minsk.

Mr. Quang said 2017 is an important milestone in bilateral relations. This year, the two countries mark the 25th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. The President said Vietnam attaches great importance to, and wants to foster friendship and sustainable cooperation with Belarus. He added that Vietnam considers Belarus a priority partner in its foreign policy for the Eurasian Economic Area: “The business communities of Vietnam and Belarus have been launching initiatives, boosting trade and investment, and helping to promote the time-honored friendship between the two countries. Vietnam hopes to receive more investment from Belarus, especially in automobile manufacturing, spare parts, mechanics, and industrial equipment. Vietnam is encouraging its enterprises to seek business and investment opportunities in Belarus in the areas of IT, consumer goods production, and agriculture”.

President Lukashenko said Belarus sees the Vietnamese market as a bridge to other ASEAN markets.
