Mr. Phuc made the request in Hanoi on Tuesday at the regular Cabinet meeting for September. He said the achievements of the past 9 months were due to transforming the growth model towards higher quality and competitiveness in major production sectors, an improved business environment, and work style reforms.

Prime Minister Phuc asked for more drastic measures to boost exports, promote trade, simplify administrative procedures, improve the market information system, and develop the domestic market to balance exports and imports.

Mr. Phuc urged for efforts to thoroughly review and control state budget spending and strictly practice thrift.

“Ministers, heads of sectors, and chairs of provincial or municipal People’s Committees must take personal responsibility in the disbursement of all public investment capital allocated for this year. The undisbursed capital should be channeled to more urgent programs. It’s important to conduct strict inspections and checks to reduce waste, corruption, and interest groups’ manipulation that has negative social effects,” he said.
