The Prime Minister said that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam’s GDP growth in the first 2 quarters was only 1.81%, the lowest in the last 10 years, but still one of a few countries with positive growth in the world. He said that Vietnam’s macro economy is stable and major economic balances remain secure, creating a strong basis for economic recovery. This shows that the Government’s pandemic response was sound and won the public’s trust.

“There will be more difficulties. We need specific policies to fulfill our dual target: preventing the pandemic from returning and ensuring economic growth. It will be important to preserve a spirit of unity, cooperation, and determination to overcome our current hardships”, he said.

During the online meeting, Mr. Phuc listed 7 discussion points, including addressing domestic and foreign risks to stabilize the macro economy, attracting investment, stimulating domestic consumer demand, and developing a nighttime economy and a digital economy.
