Prime Minister concludes trip to 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has concluded this trip to Papua New Guinea for the 26th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

During the 2-day high level meeting over the weekend, the PM attended more than 10 major events, where he voiced Vietnam’s support for free trade and investment, promoting e-commerce and digital economy, ensuring inclusive growth, and achieving millennium development goals. PM Phuc proposed important solutions to boost APEC cooperation to elevate the forum’s role worldwide.

At the 26th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, themed “Harnessing Inclusive Integration, Embracing the Digital Future”, the leaders of the 21 member economies discussed measures to enhance integration, maintain comprehensive growth and promote the digital economy.

On Sunday, leaders from 21 member economies failed to sign a joint statement. But they underlined this year’s results of regional connectivity, sustainable and inclusive growth, and agreed to hold the 27th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Chile in 2019.
