Prime Minister, NA Chairwoman meet Argentine President

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam takes Argentina as its most important partner in Latin America and hopes to consolidate and strengthen its comprehensive partnership with the country, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During a meeting with visiting Argentine President Mauricio Macri in Hanoi on Wednesday, PM Phuc suggested that Vietnam and Argentina maintain the exchange of delegations and accelerate cooperation initiatives between governments, ministries, localities, and businesses to strengthen the comprehensive partnership between the two countries. The Prime Minister called on the two sides continue to drive their cooperation in technology, sciences, agriculture, renewable energy, and pharmacy. Both leaders agreed that Vietnam and Argentina will establish a joint working group to discuss the possibility of negotiating an agreement on trade preferences between Vietnam and MERCOSUR,  a South American trade bloc whose full members are Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

Welcoming Argentine President Mauricio Macri in Hanoi on Friday, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that the two countries continue delegation exchanges and improve the efficient operation of the Inter-governmental Committee and political consultations at deputy foreign minister level.  She applauded Argentina for establishing the Friendship Parliamentarians Group with Vietnam to discuss ways to strengthen mutual understanding.

President Macri expressed his hope that the relationship between the two legislative bodies will be tightened so as to deepen Argentina-Vietnam relations. He affirmed his support for the stance of solving disputes related to sovereignty and territory through peaceful negotiations and in accordance with international law.
