Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc holds sideline meetings at ASEAN Summits in Laos

(VOVworld)- On Thursday in Vientiane, Laos, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

At a meeting with the Australian PM, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said Vietnam created favorable conditions for foreign investors including those from Australia. He asked Australia to open its market further for Vietnam’s farm produce and continue to support Vietnam to cope with climate change, promote sustainable growth, and effectively implement training and education cooperation programs. The two leaders agreed on the importance of maintaining peace, security, and cooperation in the East Sea, respecting international law, and settling disputes through peaceful means in line with international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

At a meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, Prime Minister PHuc said as a responsible and proactive member of the international community, Vietnam pledged to participate in all UN initiatives and efforts. The UN Chief said that UN organizations will work closely with Vietnam to implement SDGs and respond to climate change to achieve Vietnam’s socio-economic development goals.
