Public pays tribute to former PM Phan Van Khai

(VOVWORLD) -Large crowds paid final respects to former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai at his house in Tan Thong Hoi commune, Cu Chi district, HCM city on Monday.

Among the mourners were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and representatives of organizations from across the country. Mr Khai passed away at 1:30am on Saturday at the age of 85.

According to a special announcement by the Party Central Committee, an official ceremony to pay tribute to the late Prime Minister will take place from 8:00 am on Tuesday until the end of Wednesday at Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City. The burial ceremony is scheduled at 11:00 am on Thursday in his hometown in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh City. The ceremonies will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and The Voice of Vietnam.

During the 2 days of national morning on Tuesday and Wednesday, State offices and public facilities will fly the national flag at half-mast and all entertainment activities will be postponed.
