(VOVworld) - A ceremony was held on Saturday at Hoang Phap pagoda in Quang Binh province to welcome the national recognition of Hoang Phap pagoda as a national historical relic. Among representatives attending the ceremony included government officials, members of the Buddhist Shanghas of Vietnam and Myanamr, Cambodian King of the Monk Tep Vong, and Buddhist followers across Vietnam. Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, General Secretary of Vietnam’s Buddhist Sangha spoke at the ceremony: "The recognition is part of Vietnam’s efforts to preserve and develop national cultural traditions and to pay gratitude to Monk King Tran Nhan Tong. This is also aimed at educating the local people in Le Thuy district, Quang Binh province of national pride and patriotism, and to promote local religious and spiritual lives."

Hoang Phuc is the oldest pagodaBuddhist in Quang Binh province, with a long history spanning over 700 years. The reconstruction and restoration of Hoang Phuc pagoda since November 2014 has completed early this year.

Earlier, a ceremony was held at the pagoda to receive Buddha’s sarira relics from Myanmar’s Shwendagon pagoda.
