The recognition of Bai Choi singing was made during last year’s 12th session of the UNESCO Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Jeju, the Republic of Korea. The recognition reconfirmed Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage and acknowledged Vietnam’s contributions to enriching the cultural heritage of humanity.

Le Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam’s People's Committee, said: "We have policies to encourage people across the nation to preserve and promote bai choi singing. We’ll continue to honor this Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity to promote Quang Nam tourism."

The ceremony featured a parade with the UNESCO certificate held high and performances of Bai Choi singing.
