Quảng Ninh announces local competitiveness index
(VOVworld)-The northern province of Quang Ninh on Monday announced an index evaluating the competitiveness of its departments, districts and sectors (DDCI). The index is based on a survey of 3,500 local businesses and cooperatives and covers eight criteria, including transparency and ability to access information, the dynamics of leaders, support for businesses, legal institutions and responsibilities.

“The DDCI will put greater reform pressure on local departments and districts. It will help improve management and promote Quang Ninh’s economic development”, said President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long said the DDCI is the province’s initiative, which aims to assess the quality of local governance, and will be applied to the commune and ward level in 2017. The DDCI was piloted in Quang Ninh in 2015.
