Wave of violence has claimed 29 lives and wounded 100 in Iraq on Thursday. A series of coordinated bombing struck several Iraqi cities and towns despite the security was tightened in the Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim festival that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, though the coordinated bombings bear the hallmark of al-Qaeda group.

A car bomb attack occurred in the capital Baghdad on Thursday aimed at the mainly Shiite district of Husseiniyah, leaving 6 dead and 32 wounded. Earlier in the day, in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, 250km north of Baghdad, 8 people were killed and 31 wounded in the four consecutive car bomb and suicide bomb attacks. Other regions including Mosul city and Diyala’s capital city of Baquaba were hit by street bombings, while gunmen attacked security checkpoints in the Western city of Fallujah.
