Relations between Japan and China improving
(VOVworld) – At a meeting with seven senior lawmakers of Japan's ruling coalition in Beijing on Monday, Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said that Chinese-Japanese relations are currently improving.

Yu said China's upcoming commemorations to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of the second world war were not intended to fan resentment against Japan and that this year is a good time to mend bilateral ties damaged by territorial disputes and conflicting views of history, according to Kiyohiko Toyama, a Komeito party lawmaker who was part of the seven-member group. Yu said that to seize the opportunity it was essential for Japan to properly face up to its wartime history.
The lawmakers also discussed tensions on the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands, which both Japan and China claim sovereignty.
