Relay race “Rise with Vietnam” raises funds for those affected by COVID-19

(VOVWORLD) - The Saigon Beer - Alcohol Beverage Corporation (SABECO) and the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour jointly launched the ‘Rise with Viet Nam’ relay race on Saturday in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh province, with the aim of raising funds for Vietnamese workers struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  

The donations raised from the event will go to support vulnerable and disadvantaged workers. More than 150 relay runners joined the 1875km run - Heritage Relay - starting from the Ha Long Bay to Ho Chi Minh City finishing on 25 October, and a 145km run - Future Relay - from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho City finishing on 26 October.  Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Tran Thanh Hai: “The event aims to raise funds for Vietnamese workers struggling to overcome the negative impact of the novel coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic. I hope it will create a new momentum for more united efforts to build up better life and help affected workers enjoy the upcoming traditional lunar New Year.”

The campaign has mobilized more than 1,800 participants with over 3.5 billion dong in donations. It will continue until next month with all proceeds to be offered to pandemic affected workers through the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
