(VOVworld) – A conference was held in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday to collect public opinions on the Revised Law on Marriage and Family to be submitted to the upcoming 7th NA meeting.
Issued 13 years ago, the 2000 Marriage and Family Law has revealed many shortcomings. The revision aims to deal with the reality of modern marriage and family life in Vietnam, and adapt to the newly revised Vietnamese Constitution’s articles on human rights and citizen rights, especially those pertaining to marriage and family.
Conference participants discussed some controversial issues such as surrogate pregnancy, divorce, and same sex living arrangements.
The conference was organized by the Institute for Legislative Study of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
