Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, Hu Suojin, told a discussion on bilateral cooperation in Hanoi on Wednesday that Guangdong and Hong Kong’s economic ties are important in Vietnam-Sino relations, as trade revenue between each of these localities and Vietnam has grown by 17% over the past 5 years. Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister and Secretary General of Vietnam-China Cooperation Committee, Le Hoai Trung, reiterated Vietnam’s determination to improve the investment climate and wished for more investment from Guangdong and Hong Kong in agriculture and transport. Trung said “Vietnam treasures its comprehensive strategic cooperation with China as a constant priority in its foreign policy. Hong Kong has been a financial hub in the region in the 20 years since the handover to China. Vietnam has gradually become part of the global value chain and expects more cooperation potential.”
