Russia deploys nuclear-capable missiles into Kaliningrad

(VOVworld) - Russia has deployed nuclear-capable Iskander-M missiles into the Kaliningrad enclave bordering Poland and Lithuania, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.

According to Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov, these missile units have been deployed more than once in the Kaliningrad region, and will be deployed as part of military training to enhance combat readiness for the Russian armed forces.
Lithuania and Poland, neighboring Kaliningrad and members of NATO have expressed serious concerns. Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius reckons that Russia’s aim is seek for concessions from the West relating to the rising conflicts between Russia and the US and NATO on Syria and Crimea issues. Poland’s Defense Minister Antoni Macierewiez said that Russia’s action is very alarming.
