(VOVWORLD) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday that Russia is planning retaliatory measures, one day after the US announced a new round of sanctions against Moscow for poisoning a former Russian agent and his daughter in Britain.
Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters there has been no evidence of Russia’s involvement, and that the pretext for the new sanctions had been made up. The Russia embassy in the US criticized Washington for the sanctions and called for an open and transparent investigation of the poisoning incident.
The sanctions will take effect on August 22.
