(VOVworld) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and the signing of a peace treaty.

Lavrov told reporters after the meeting that they agreed that Russian-Japanese cooperation benefits their people and they will seek mutually acceptable measures.
The next bilateral consultation of deputy Foreign Ministers on a peace treaty will be held in October in Moscow. The Foreign Ministers said more high-level talks will be held, including a Russia-Japan summit on the sidelines of the G-20 summit and APEC meeting this year.
