The humanitarian convoy is expected to enter a place inside Ukrainian territory decided by Kiev. The convoy departed after Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement on providing humanitarian aid to civilians in Eastern Ukraine, who are under the aegis of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Donated by Moscow’s government and neighboring regions, the humanitarian assistance include cereals, sugar, baby food, medical equipment and medication, sleeping bags, and power generators.

President Vladimir Putin's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said Moscow will provide Kiev with necessities due to the humanitarian crisis there. NATO chief Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that there was a high probability that Russia could intervene militarily in eastern Ukraine.
