Security tightened at train and bus stations in Thailand

(VOVworld) – Thai authorities have tightened security measures at train and bus stations in the South, following the bombing attack at Jana railway station in Songkhla province on Monday.

It is also the celebrations of the Songkhran water festival and a large number of foreigners are coming to join the celebrations. Security staff will closely monitor the travel activities of suspicious people, tighten checks on passengers and vehicles, and step up patrols. At Hat Yai railway station, passenger’s belongings, luggage and package are thoroughly scanned. In Songkhla bomb blast on Monday, a police officer and a 4 year-old boy were killed, and 15 others injured when a bomb hidden in a motorcycle went off. A series of attacks have taken place in Southern Thailand in the last few weeks, killing around 10 people and injuring hundreds of others.
