Shooting in Dagestan kills five

(VOVWORLD) - A 22-year-old gunman opened fire on churchgoers leaving a service in Russia's Dagestan region, killing five people and wounding five others including two police officers.

The shootings took place Sunday evening in Kizlyar town, a mainly Muslim region. The gunman was shot and killed by security services, Russian news agency Tass said, adding that he carried a hunting rifle, bullets and a knife. The Islamic State (ISIS) said it was behind the attack. ISIS has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks in Dagestan, in which the jihadists often used guns and explosives.
