The conference aimed to increase economic development in the areas of  science and technology, creativity, and innovation.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam needs a strategy to grasp opportunities and learn experience from countries offering support for Vietnamese SMEs.

A national innovation and creativity center should be established to apply global innovations and gather the private sector and foreign experts.

Bui Thu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Business Development Department of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, said: “All resolutions of the Party and Government have insisted on the need to establish an eco-system to support SMEs based on technological factors to grow as much as possible and catch up with the developmental trends of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

“Under the plan, the government will only act as a catalyst while local administrations, banks, and private businesses should proactively take over from there,” Thuy added.

The same day, a ceremony was held to announce a pilot project on developing a startup ecosystem for SMEs.
