(VOVworld) – A State funeral ceremony for Truong Quang Duoc, former Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairman, was held on Tuesday in Hanoi. Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan were among those who came to pay tribute to the former leader.

Mr. Duoc was born in 1940 in Quang Nam province. He assumed important positions in the Party, State and National Assembly, including becoming a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Politburo, a National Assembly deputy, and National Assembly Vice Chairman. He was honored with a badge for his 50-year party membership, the Ho Chi Minh Order, the first-class Labor Order, and the third-class Anti-US Resistance Order.
