At the workshop on Friday in Nha Trang city, participants focused on cooperation for development, human resource training, cooperation between localities, and cultural and tourism exchanges, investment and economy. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, Head of the Vietnam Institute of Economics, said the central region of Vietnam has potentials to attract Japanese investors in industry and resort service: “The coastal economic zones should be prioritized to lure Japanese investors. The central region with hot weather is ideal to Japanese tourists to stay. The resort service should be properly invested to attract more Japanese visitors, especially the elderly”.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee, and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.

Japan is now Vietnam’s largest provider of ODA, the second largest foreign direct investor, the third largest source of visitors and the fourth largest trading partner. More than 2,600 Japanese businesses are operating in Vietnam.
