South Korea seeks 'irreversible' peace on Korean Peninsula

(VOVWORLD) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in said on Friday that South Korea is seeking to formally end hostile relations with North Korea before the year's end and establish a permanent peace that would be irreversible.

In an interview with Indonesian newspaper Kompas, President Moon said the goal is to end war forever on the Korean Peninsula. The rare interview came ahead of Indonesian President Joko

Widodo's three-day trip to Seoul. Mr. Moon and Mr. Widodo will meet on Monday, the day after the Indonesian leader arrives.

The US State Department said special representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun will pay his first visit to South Korea next week to discuss the denuclearization of North Korea.
