In a televised address in Seoul on the scandal relating to her old friend Choi Soon-sil, President Park said she would resign if lawmakers can agree on an orderly transition of power. She apologized for a third time since the scandal broke and asked parliament to decide the direction of a “stable” power transition.

President Park made the speech the day after some of her loyal sub-ordinates suggested she should resign to avoid being forced to do so. Some retired politicians also called on her to resign before April, 2017. Opposition parties are expected to submit to Parliament on December 2nd a document to impeach the President.
